Lesson 8: Moses and the 10 Plagues

Supplies:
10 Plague Props

Moses went to the bad king and told him that God said "Let my people go!" but the bad king would not listen to God. He wanted to keep hurting the people who loved God. So God turned all the water to blood (use a bottle of clean water and then put one drop of food coloring in it so the kids can see it turn "bloody") so the king and all the king's bad people could not drink water or take baths or go swimming.

Moses told the king that God said "Let my people go!" but the king would not listen to God (show frogs).

So God sent lots and lots of frogs to jump around outside and inside, all over the bad people and in the bad king's house and in his bed and EVERYWHERE. But the king still did not want to obey God (show insect).

So God sent icky bugs to swarm around all over the bad people and the bad king, inside and outside of their houses. But the bad king still did not want to obey God. He wanted to keep hurting the people who loved God (show "sick" animals).

So God made all the bad king's animals sick and all the bad people's animals sick. But the bad king still did not want to obey God (start sticking red garage sale stickers all over the kids).

So God put ouchies all over the bad people's skin and the bad king's skin. The king STILL would not listen to God (show painted rocks).

So God sent a big hail storm to rain down on the bad king and the bad people. Moses told the bad king that God said "Let my people go!" but the king wanted to keep hurting God's people. He did not want to obey God (show grasshopper/locust).

So God sent icky locusts to come and eat all the bad people's food and all the king's food. But the bad king STILL would not obey God.

So God made it so everything was dark. (Ask the kids to close their eyes). The bad king and the bad people had to live in the dark all day and all night. But the bad king STILL would not obey God (pull out "person").

Moses told the people, "God said to put lamb's blood on the doorway of your houses to keep your family safe. If you don't listen to God, your firstborn boys will die". The people who loved God listened to God, and He kept their families safe. But the king and the people who did not love God did not obey God, and their firstborn boys all died (lay person in bed).

The king's boy died too. He was very sad. He decided to listen to God. He obeyed God and stopped hurting God's people. All of God's people were so happy that God took care of them. They ran away from the bad king and God kept them safe.

Craft ideas:

The words of this story were copied from some preschool Bible flashcards that belong to my mom (copyright by CRC Publications 1988...this is the only info I have on the cards. I'm not sure where they originally came from). I am posting this for Sunday School and homeschooling purposes only and I do not claim myself as the author of these stories.
