Lesson 48: Over the Wall

Supplies:
Wall and Paul illustrations

Do you remember Paul? Paul hated Jesus. Then Jesus talked to Paul and Paul loved Jesus. Paul loved Jesus so much that he couldn't stop talking about him. He talked to people on the road. He talked to people at the market. He talked to people he knew. He talked to people he didn't know at all. Many people were happy to hear about Jesus. They said, "Thank you, Paul, for telling us happy news that Jesus loves us."

But there were some people who didn't like to hear about Jesus. These people were mad at Paul. They wanted Paul to stop talking about Jesus. So they made a bad plan. They said, "We will kill Paul so he can't talk about Jesus anymore. When he tries to walk through the gates of the city, we'll kill him."

One of Paul's friends heard about the bad plan. Pauls' friend told Paul. Paul looked out the window and saw that his friend was right! The bad men were waiting at the gate. They were going to kill him!

But Jesus was watching Paul. Jesus wanted to help him. Jesus gave Paul's friends a good idea. While everyone in the city was asleep, Paul's friends took a big basket. They walked to the house where Paul was staying. Then they took Paul to the wall. Paul's friends climbed the wall. They had to be very careful so the bad people would not hear them. Paul climbed into the basket and his friends let the basket down over the wall.

Paul was safe! He climbed out of the basket and ran away from the city. Now bad people would not be able to hurt Paul. Jesus was taking very good care of Paul. Isn't Jesus wonderful?

The words of this story were copied from some preschool Bible flashcards that belong to my mom (copyright by CRC Publications 1988...this is the only info I have on the cards. I'm not sure where they originally came from). I am posting this for Sunday School and homeschooling purposes only and I do not claim myself as the author of these stories.
