Letter of the Week: O

I am sad to admit that I totally slacked off with Mercedes' letter O week. I was planning on getting her some books about the ocean, making a super cool octopus craft, teaching her some origami...then we got busy with Christmas activities and we just plain didn't have time. Thankfully Mercedes was already a letter O expert before we even started her letter O themed week so all of the activities we did do were just for fun and for review.

Mercedes practiced tracing the letter O on a worksheet I made for her.

She colored a letter O coloring page.

She practiced signing the ASL letter O.

I filled a discovery bag with items that begin with the letter O: Oatmeal, foam letter O, octagon, oval, orange, orange juice and an ostrich. Mercedes pulled each item out one by one and practiced making the "O" sound as she said what each item was.

She made a big letter O with orange construction paper.

And a little letter o with orange ovals.

I bought the girls some new orange mango scented body wash.

And made frozen yogurt bites with orange creme flavored yogurt.

We made an O out of orange slices.

We read books about otters, orangutans and ostriches.

And for dinner one night we ate oatmeal.

(Sigh) That's all! Maybe when Emerald is ready for the letter O Mercedes will be able to do all the other activities I'd planned for her.
